I know well and good that the Wii is an underpowered console, and that Dead Rising is a large Xbox 360 game, but these animations look like crap. I can count at least 10+ bugs in this one video.

Come on Capcom! We thought you were the king of solid ports! N64 visuals are over!

I think the problem may be less with the animations in the game and more to do with the choppiness of the video file itself. The “Wii” logo fade in and out sequence even looks choppy, leading me to believe that the video itself is of poor quality, and not the game.

But what do I know, I haven’t even played the thing yet.

i agree, this looks like crap

    Crappy Resident Evil 4.

The more I see and hear about this game, the less I like. While it may be partly to the video itself, there’s no way you can blame it all on that, and I still think the game looks like crap. It doesn’t even look as good as RE4, and that’s REALLY sad. Not to mention they’ve totally changed the game into some kind of RE4 knock-off.

Unless Capcom is reworking their RE4 engine, this is essentially a Cube game.

Anyways, the static screenshot look better than this overly compressed video, as good as RE4 Cube, but then again, not better than what Factor 5 showed us 8 years ago on with their Cube game.

The WIi may be underpowered, but it’s technically more powerful than any console from last generation, so why developers are having a hard time with it, is clearly do to a LACK OF EFFORT.

This game is either an appetizer to tide us Wii guys over as they get their Wii-act together, OR, it’s Capcom doing another minimal effort port, since it’s already proven profitable with games like RE4 and RE:UC.

Really it depends on how early this build is. If it’s early then fine. They have a lot of work to do; it’s part of the plan. I’m inclined to believe that it is early, seen as the developers say they’re aiming for 100 zombies at once and currently have 10. If it’s about to be released then WTF?

Of course this begs the question: Why show it if it’s not ready to be shown?

To which we reply: This is Capcom and they just did the exact same thing with Spyborgs – which is currently going ‘back to formula’.

If the game genuinely isn’t on track and we complain enough, then unlike before Capcom may actually be inclined to delay it and put the effort in they should have in the first place.

    Still looks like fun. :)

that kinda looked as expected, but not that bad I didn’t think. the ‘shake controller vigorously’ promp made me laugh though.

As long as I don’t start from the beginning when I die…

I have played the 360 version of Dead Rising extensively and the animations here did not look all that different. The only major difference is the utter lack of zombies on screen compared to the original. Otherwise though the look and feel are very, very similar. Capcom has developed and published some of the best games on the Wii to date, and I have faith that they will make Dead Rising as good as it can possibly be when it launches. That’s not to say that I will buy it because I have already played the original and this will definately be a downgrade, but those who have never picked up Dead Rising on the 360 should be patient and give it a shot.

I’m going to give Capcom the benefit of the doubt as it’s still early days.

Also, I doubt it’ll happen, but I’d like to see the Wii’s controls being used for some of the weapons rather than just having waggle to shake off enemies.

This looks like a first gen PS2 game, bleh. Aside from the tank-walking and the cursor I wouldn’t believe you that they’re using the RE4 engine. Where’s the graphical flare or polish of RE4, where’s the larger mobs?

Are they secretly doing this for PSToo? Certainly looks like it.

Controls in itself look somewhat gimmicky but the lightgun aiming that RE4 Wii had made that game so much more fun that I’ll still hold out and see how it looks in the end.

I’m sorry but I’m down with the House Of The Dead. The hype around this game is bulls***…

    Wow, what a bore-fest.

“Really it depends on how early this build is”
Took the words out of my…errr… keypad. =)

The game was decent , but not anything great on the 360.
Now the Wiimake, with poor animation, WAY FEWER zombies on screen, framrate issues …. well the Waggle wont be enough to convince me to even rent it.

I hope the final build is MUCH better, but I don’t know…

  16. Bii says:

Why are we even waggling to hit a baseball? Why not just use the accelerometer?

Even RE4 had more zombies on the screen than this showing, but I did notice that the Gametrailers video and 1up video got pulled, so I guess this wasn’t meant to be shown.

Anyways, at least Sega is working on a better looking Zombie game and even commented that they could do better than this one.

Visuals aside, if this game is a pointless kill fest with no strategic killing like RE4, then this game will suck.

  17. Bii says:

Oops, my mistake, my connection wasn’t working. *hides* This game looks awful, even on a better video.

  18. gojiguy says:

Hold on… Is this Capcom’s attempt at “showing off” this game?

    I think I just puked…

  19. Run line 10 says:

Yeah the shooting is way more improved and really those bad animation are part of the other version also. They sucked then also. I tend to like the view a lot more now though. This is a good start and I may actually get this one.

Well, I WAS looking forward to this game…
