Director leaves Castlevania movie

Paul W.S. Anderson, director of such films as Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil, and Alien vs. Predator, has apparently left development of the Castlevania movie. Check out Dread Central for more information.
Who do you think should replace him?
[Thanks, Garth!]

Nobody should replace him. Movies based on video games don’t do the original material any justice.
I mean.. the Mortal Kombat movie??? That was a stinking load of crud. And the Resident Evil movies sucked as well.
Just leave the Castlevania title alone and don’t tarnish it with a cheesy Hollywood film that won’t do the original game any justice.

This actually sounds like good news. Anderson messed up with the Resident Evil movies, and I wasn’t expecting much from Castlevania.
You know who should do Castlevania? Francis Ford Coppola. He did a fantastic job with Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and it wouldn’t be much of a stretch if he did Castlevania.

Uwe Boll… lol The movie would have to have a gratuitous sex scene halfway through to keep people from leaving the theatre… oh, wait. That was Bloodrayne.

Del Toro should do it. He’s shown he can do a wide range, from Blade to Pan’s Labyrinth. It would be nice to see a film that has the Castlevania action (I don’t need to see automatic crossbow tommy guns - just a hell of a show with one single whip will do) and the emotional involvement and good dialogue. Del Toro is the man.

Uwe Boll. Oh wait. The goal was to NOT make a steaming load that insults the franchise, video games in general, and gamers around the world? Then, no. Prolly not Uwe Boll.
