The E3 media blitz is just over the horizon, and the Infendo offices are littered with scribbled rumors and speculative e-mails concerning all sorts of high-profile Wii games.
From Kid Icarus to Animal Crossing, and from Mega Man to Donkey Kong, we have been covering the rumors and checking our sources for the latest on each of these possible E3 revelations. But in my search for new tips this afternoon, I stumbled across some old information I had almost forgotten about.
It is exciting to theorize over games we’re not entirely sure exist. Perhaps more important, though, are the games we can be certain of. Specifically, don’t forget about Kirby; the little pink puff might be one of Nintendo’s best-kept Wii surprises heading into E3.
My campus held its annual Chalk-the-Walk contest Wednesday. There were several beautiful pieces this year, and in accordance with the contest’s theme, most expressed social and political statements. Much to my delight, two entries showcased Nintendo characters.
One student drew an intoxicated Yoshi to advocate responsible drinking, while another used Kirby and Metaknight, two eternally sworn rivals, to make a statement about human brotherhood.
If only the world would look to Kirby…
New stuff for Virtual Console today:
Kirby’s Avalanche - SNES
Everyone’s favorite round, pink hero takes a break from swallowing his enemies to put your brain to work in this fast-paced puzzle game. Are you good enough to help Kirby become the avalanche king?
Streets of Rage 3 - Genesis
Just when you thought the world was safe from the Syndicate and its shady leader, Mr. X, they have returned to torment the city once again.
LEGEND OF HERO TONMA - TG16
LEGEND OF HERO TONMA is an action game that puts players in control of the magic-user Tonma, whose role – as was typical for game heroes of the day – is to travel to another world and save the princess.
I’d prefer to see Kirby Super Star over Avalanche, but take whatever Kirby you can get, I guess. Buying anything this week?
Infendo Nation loves itself some Kirby! Judging by the number of tipsters, there’s an underground Kirby movement just waiting to happen. Anyway, a site called Albotas tipped the world off to an Australian Ebay auction for a limited edition Kirby DS Lite. Clicking over, I had hoped to see a bubble-gum pink DS with cute eyes and rosy cheeks. Sad to say, it’s just a standard white DS with a picture of Kirby stamped onto it for some contest in Australia. Pretty neat, but I can’t say it’s enough to get my bid.
Sound off, everybody. Who here loves Kirby? *raises hand*
[Thanks to Robby and everyone else who sent this in!]
