Guitar Hero DS custom grip skins available

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008 at 3:11pm by Derek

Activision has updated the official Guitar Hero: On Tour Web site with new content, including 16 custom skins for the DS plug-in grip.

Among the new designs are multi-colored variations of the Guitar Hero logo, a hard-rocking alien robot and a hellish motif with chains, bones and a fist rising above the flames.

Head over to the Guitar Hero: On Tour site to download a design, print it out and customize your cramp-inducing plastic grip.

Hendrix statue plays Guitar Hero — Activision goes too far?

I love Guitar Hero, and I plan on buying World Tour later this year, but I’m having a hard time understanding this marketing ploy by Activision. It’s a weird mish mash of vandalism, cheapness, bad taste and quick thinking (you know Rock Band’s guys had the same idea cooking in their heads too). Seriously, that’s the same posterboard stuff I can buy at my local CVS. Then again, it was quick thinking, and a lot of people like GH. Like I said, I’m torn… (hence the humor tag)

Guitar Hero: Metallica announced

Friday, June 6th, 2008 at 1:28am by Jake

metallica225.jpgAre the upcoming RockBand, Rock Revolution, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, Guitar Hero: On Tour, or Guitar Hero World Tour titles not looking to satisfy your metal head rhythm needs? Look no further as Activision has enlisted a new spin off to the franchise which takes Metallica along for the ride.

“In fiscal 2009, we plan to publish Guitar Hero: On Tour for the NDS; Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, Guitar Hero: Metallica, and Guitar Hero IV across multiple platforms,”

Fiscal 2009 makes full circle at the end of March so expect this one to most likely hit shelves Q1 2009. This announcement comes less than a year after Metallica sued both Harmonix, and Red Octane over music infringement. Is this how they met terms? Hmm…

Either way here comes one more money wagon down the pipeline…

Thanks, HyperSonic!

Guitar Hero On Tour DS bundle is better than Guitar Hero On Tour commercial

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008 at 9:50am by Jack

ptru1-4842181dt.jpg

Don’t know if you’ve seen the cheese-ridden tragedy that is the Guitar Hero On Tour commercial or not, so here’s fair warning that it’s somewhere in this post, ready to pounce on your innocent eyes with all manner of campy sadness, without remorse.

Now, that said, this pic is a Toys R Us Nintendo DS bundle for $180. Includes Guitar Hero On Tour and a special edition silver Guitar Hero branded DS. Only has four buttons, sure, but it’s Guitar Hero on the road, if that’s your thing. I’m a studio man, myself.

Guitar Hero IV drums revealed

Thursday, May 15th, 2008 at 7:36am by David

Well, these are the drums for the Xbox 360 version of the recently revealed Guitar Hero IV. I imagine that the Wii version will be very similar, but probably white. Either way, I’m totally psyched that there will be cymbals! My Rock Band pre-order = cancelled!

What do you all think?
