After 20 years, the Game Boy really hasn’t changed that much, as this nifty timeline shows. Head on over to Gizmodo for a full resolution image.

A few days ago I sat down with Nathan Tolbert creator of an indie game Anguna Warrirors of Virtue for the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS and asked him a few questions about the development process of homebrew games. Not only was Nathan happy to talk about it with me but he went into great detail about it and even recommending a few programs to use. If you every wanted to try and make a game for the Game Boy Advance or Nintendo DS be sure to join me and Nathan as we look and talk about the main parts of development.
Apparently the guys over at Starmen.net did not think it was enough to just releasing a translation patch. They went ahead and teamed up with Fangamer to compile a complete companion book/players guide for the game as well. With complete coverage of everything in the game, and they even went so far as to make clay models for some characters and enemies just like in the original Earthbound guide.
As of right now they are taking pre-orders for the hardcover book at 20 dollars a pop. If your a fan of the series, this looks like a solid investment. Hit the jump to take a peek at some of the pages.
Mother 3 was initially released on 2006 on April 20th, furthermore, it was intended to be a Japan only title. Most fans of the series were completely crushed when they discovered this. As the only Mother game to make it out of Japan was Mother 2, which is known as Earthbound.
Albeit, a band of dedicated fans with the hopes of one day playing Mother 3 in English decided to get together and make a fan translation. Which started soon after the game was released, the website they were using was as Mother3.org. However, they soon learned that they were one of two groups working on the translation (Starmen.net being the other), and eventually they decided to join forces to get the patch out as fast as possible
As it stands now the translation patch has been completed and they are almost finished with testing and are adding the final touches. Fans of the series will finally be able to play the game in English only after a two and a half year wait. The patch will apparently be out by the end of the week for all those to enjoy.
Art Style: Orbient, today’s curiously titled WiiWare release, is a remake of a 2006 GameBoy Advance title.
Nintendo plans to release two more Art Style games on WiiWare this month, according to Wired.
The Art Style games are remakes of the Bit Generations games, a series of seven GameBoy Advance titles released in Japan in 2006. The series was popular for its simple controls and stylish presentation.
WiiWare’s Orbient, originally Orbital on the GameBoy Advance, gives players control of a tiny celestial body. Using gravity, players orbit around larger ones to collide with other planets, stars and rocks.
Orbient has received a significant visual upgrade for the move to Wii. It is available in the Wii Shop Channel for 600 Wii Points.
Rhythm Tengoku Heaven is a simple and infectious rhythm game that anyone can play. If you can tap your finger in time to music, you’ll get the hang of Rhythm Heaven in no time! Players hold their Nintendo DS system sideways like a book and tap their stylus on the touch screen to the rhythm of the music. Players tap, slide or flick the stylus to hit the right beat. Rhythm Heaven features catchy tunes, charming characters and a wide variety of rhythm games. Well-known Japanese music producer TSUNKU♂ helped direct Rhythm Heaven and composed the music for it. Be sure to hit the jump for screens and a quick teaser video.
Ever wonder what the whole hubbub is about the Mother universe? Why the fans are so crazy about the characters and story, and why so many people are upset that the game wasn’t released in English? Could it possibly be the fact that there was a trailer at E3 many years ago showing the game on the Nintendo 64. It doesn’t matter now anyway…
Here is a trailer for Mother 3 with 85% of the games text fan translated. There is two more videos that follow this one and showcase part of the game play of Chapter 1 of Mother 3. if you like what you are seeing and want some more hit the jump for the other videos. On a side note, why is it that Nintendo has ignored the Mother/Earthbound fan base? They have even gone to mention that the fans are the most dedicated fans they have with all their planned Phone calls, various petitions, and fan art mailing. So why are they left as cameo combatants in Smash Bros?

Today, while I was checking the latest news update on the Mother 3 Translation project, I happened to notice a very unusually snippet of information. Hit the jump to find out what it could be.
We’ve enjoyed the fruits of Nintendo’s labors in the West for over 20 years, but there are still some games we haven’t been able to play. Here are the Top 3 Game Series that Nintendo still hasn’t released outside of Japan.

I’m currently playing Super Mario Advance 4 (SMB3), which is great, but I wish I could play it on my TV.
In my effort to consolidate consoles and still play every Nintendo game in 2006, I hastily got rid of my black GameCube after Wii launched. I’m now regretting it–I want a Game Boy Player.
In any case, how much you wanna bet the next DS will feature a Virtual Handheld that sells back catalog Game Boy titles just like Virtual Console does for home games? Wait for it…
