And so began this simple post on an extraordinary idea. Perhaps a bit crazy too, but then again all disruptive technologies are labeled as such before they’re accepted en masse.

The idea? That the Balance Board packaged with Wii Fit isn’t an accessory at all. It’s a console, just the like Wii or even the PlayStation 3.

You were wondering when Nintendo would update the Wii? Unveil a Wii 2? Good news: The Wii Balance Board is it.

Tabloid says video games make kids dumb

Thursday, November 29th, 2007 at 3:15pm by Jack

Kids and video gamesThere’s something inherently ironic about a tabloid reporting on mediums that make people dumber, but for the sake of this post I’ll continue.

Basically, U.K. tabloid The Sun is blaming videogames for England’s drop in literacy rates. The article cites a study that claimed 37% of English ten-year-olds play videogames for more than three hours a day, for more than other European children. Side note: That’s nothing; my old roommate played World of Warcraft for 16 hours straight once. The Sun also reported in the past that videogames hurt British football, so I think we know where their loyalties lie on this issue,no?

If kids game too much, they don’t read, the study says. Apparently, the researchers didn’t get a crack at Super Paper Mario.

Wii Fit coming January 1, 2008 say retailers

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007 at 1:43pm by Blake

Wii Fit
While I despise using online retailers as release date sources, the newest EB Games and Amazon listings for a January 1 Wii Fit launch have added merit; Nintendo would be stupid not to release a health product on the same day as New Year resolutions, 99 percent of which are to lose weight.

Additionally, both retailers list WiiFit at $70. Call me casual — I don’t care — but this thing (not to mention the ski jumping mini-game) has my chunky self excited. Anyone else planning on buying this?
