With only The Bigs 2 coming out for Wii, WiiWare is the place to find your new games for the week.  Bit.Trip Core is the follow-up to the awesome Bit.Trip Beat and Bust-a-Move Plus looks like a blast, too.  And the Commodore 64 classic California Games over on the Virtual Console is definitely worth 5 bucks.  Rock Band 2 gets songs from Green Day’s new album 21st Century Breakdown, artists performing at the RockStar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival, and many more.

Wii-kly Update – BIT.TRIP BEAT & Summer Games II

Monday, March 16th, 2009 at 9:41am by Press Release

Old-school action is the main attraction at the Wii Shop Channel this week. With a wealth of underground buzz already surrounding it, a brand new WiiWare title (BIT.TRIP BEAT) uses vintage-looking graphics and 8-bit sounds to create a rhythm-based game that’s loaded with retro cool. Find out if you have enough skill to create order from chaos in a game that is as mesmerizing as it is challenging. Meanwhile, the latest addition to the Virtual Console lineup brings a Commodore 64 classic (Summer Games II) to the Wii console, proving that fans of international sports events needn’t wait until 2012 to get their track-and-field fix. Even if you’re too young to remember the original days of 8-bit gaming, these awesome titles provide timeless kicks.

Wii-kly Update – Commodore 64 games now on Virtual Console

Monday, February 23rd, 2009 at 12:46pm by David

Hang onto your hats – and your Wii Remote controllers – as we unveil a set of exciting firsts for the Wii Shop Channel this week. For starters, the new Onslaught marks the first-ever first-person shooter to be released via the WiiWare service. Using the intuitive wireless controls Wii is known for, the game puts players at the center of a pulse-pounding adventure that fans of futuristic sci-fi and multiplayer action will love.

The other big news this week is the hotly anticipated launch of Commodore 64 game titles on Virtual Console. Starting with two classic martial arts games and an awesome car racing title, we’re thrilled to add yet another old-school gaming platform to the mix. Virtual Console already offers classic games that originally appeared on a variety of platforms, and with the addition of Commodore 64, Wii owners can expect even more vintage games to rediscover and enjoy.

Commodore 64

Our Nintendo loving brothers and sisters in the EU have been regularly seen delays with game releases in their territory. Wii Virtual Console to feature Commodore 64 games

Thursday, February 21st, 2008 at 10:18am by Jack

Virtual Console Commodore 64You read that headline correctly: Later this year Wii owners (in Europe at least) will be able to download Commodore 64 games, beginning with International Karate and Uridium.

According to Next Generation, Nintendo promises that these titles “will be bolstered by regular updates to the line-up from the Commodore 64 back catalogue”.

The C64 titles, which will be downloadable from the Wii Shop Channel for 500 Wii points each, are currently only slated for European release. Um, boo? I think?
