Hack Your Way to Nintendo Zone Content

Saturday, February 11th, 2012 at 8:53am by Dan

If you own a Nintendo 3DS you know you can only get Nintendo Zone downloadable content at participating retailers but there is now an any easy way to do this from home and save the trip with just a simple  Hack to your router.  For anyone unsure about what the Nintendo Zone is,  it’s a downloadable content delivery service that allows 3DS users to pull down videos and game demos, but for some reason only known to them, Nintendo has only allowed you to do this at participating retailers (i.e. Best Buy, McDonalds)

Thankfully for all of you hermits out there you can now do this from your own home with this simple router change. As NeoGAT user “Darkwish” explains

“If you set your wireless network to be named attwifi and make it unsecured, then add that network on your 3DS… you can access the Nintendo Zone from home! So whatever demos (right now it’s just Mario & Sonic), Pokémon TV show episodes, and other content they have on there is now accessible from home.”  Here is a video explaining the process.

Now you never have to leave your house. Enjoy.

Zelda Pacman: Two Great Games in One?

Friday, February 10th, 2012 at 5:48pm by Dan

In our last post we showed you Super Mario Crossover 2.0  in which Link makes an appearance in a Mario game. Well now Link is at it again and has made his way into another classic game. Nothing gets much better than playing classic Nintendo games and two great ones combine here in a remake of Pacman with a Zelda Theme. Our friends over at Zelda Universe found this version of one of the most classic games.

You can play it HERE . Do you like Link as Pacman or should he just stick to trying to  save Zelda?

Super Mario Bros. Crossover 2.0 is here!

Super Mario Bros. is undoubtedly one of the most iconic games, well, ever. Without the Shigeru Miyamoto classic, gaming as we know it today would more likely than not be much different. There isn’t much you could do to make the game better, except include characters from other classic video games of course!

That’s where Super Mario Bros. Crossover 2.0 comes in. The fan project that has been in development for quite some time now has finally been released, and it’s fantastic. Not only can you play as different characters including Mega Man, Samus, and Link, but you can also play with different graphics filters such as an NES mode or an SNES mode. Top it all off with the ability to play the game with a gamepad, and you have a legitimate time-waster that is worthy of multiple play-throughs. You can check out the game for yourself right here, and you really should. It’s fantastic.

What do you think of Super Mario Crossover 2.0? Does it tickle your retro gaming fancy?

Are you getting too old for long games?

Thursday, February 9th, 2012 at 6:44am by Staff

Someone at 1UP is…

What I know I would like to see is developers recognizing not everyone can play games for long stretches at a time and creating ways that make it easier to play in smaller bursts. Not enough games allow you to save your progress at any time, despite the fact that there are ways to do so without opening the door for exploits. Temporary saves that are deleted once they’re loaded are one possible solution that could perhaps even be integrated at the system level.

How about you?

Go vote for your favorite Xenoblade Chronicles boxart!

Wednesday, February 8th, 2012 at 9:04pm by Eugene

Planning on picking up Xenoblade Chronicles this April? I know a few people that are. Nintendo is planning on finally releasing the game, after saying the game wouldn’t hit North American shores, in a few months, and they are letting fans vote for their favorite box art images to be displayed when the game ships.

By visiting Nintendo’s facebook page, you can vote for your favorite image that will then be put into place as the official North American cover art for the game. I personally like image number four best, and wouldn’t mind sporting that in my game case.

What image do you like best?
