Today Capcom announced that a software update for Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will be coming after launch providing some new features that fans have been asking for. Although no specific date has been mentioned it has been suggested this will be coming along shortly after the game launches.

The new features include online cross-region play between Europe and North America for up to 4 player Monster Hunter parties, Off-TV play so you don’t need to take over the TV for grinding and finally the promise of continuous, free downloadable content.

With this news it’s looking like the Wii U version of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate could be the most accessible yet for the western market however they may lose some sales from those who would double dip on both 3DS and Wii U versions now that the Wii U version can be played portably around the house and in HD on your TV.

Capcom is obviously hoping this will be the time Monster Hunter can really make a big impact in the western market and hopefully for Nintendo and especially the Wii U it will.

Will you be picking up Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate when it comes out this month and if so which version or will you be double dipping? Has this news changed your opinion at all?
