Detractors be damned, Capcom is again porting an old game to Wii.
As revealed in the latest issue of Famitsu, Kotaku is reporting today Capcom is bringing Dead Rising to Wii. Like Okami and Resident Evil 4 before it, Dead Rising appears to be a direct and unaltered port on Wii.
Originally released for Xbox 360 in Aug. 2006, Dead Rising follows the harrowing adventures of Frank West, a photographer trapped inside a shopping mall in a zombie-infested Colorado town. Players control West as he uses surrounding objects to brutalize zombie scum, save survivors and uncover the reasons for the undead infestation.
No release date was specified. Expect more from Capcom soon.

another test? wow. oh well, thats capcom for you. no risks left in them these days. hasnt been for years it seems.
depressing.
wasnt there a bigthing about how the 360 was the only platform that had the power to do the AI and spawncount of this game? i dont hant to play it if its going to have a maximum number of zombies like 6 at a time….
if it IS an acurate port then hell yes! i played it ALOT before i sold my 360, now im a wii exclusive man, this is goign to rock.
Agreed. If this is accurate port, I have no problem with it as I’ve wanted to play it since it came out.

Blease bring Lost Planet over next.
It’s kind of hard for me to get too excited for a game that will be almost 2 years old by the time it gets released. I guess one consulation will be that at least Capcom is porting from THIS generation.
According to Evil Unleashed the game play is going to be like RE4, not like DR on the 360. Which on that part I won’t mind, since I thought the controls on the 360 version were kind of clunky. Looking at the scans it looked to me like the zombie count is signifcantly lower we’ll see when it’s released.
Still…..another port? Would it kill you Capcom to get Wii owners, oh…and ORIGINAL game with some of your big franchises (and no, Umbrella Chronicles doesn’t count, you mish-mashed that together from past games). I mean come on….give us an ORIGINAL RE game, an ORIGNAL Dead Rising game, etc. Stop givng us souped up last gen ports and more than likely scaled down current gen ports.
Another good game can’t hurt, port or not.
I hope they fix the tiny text!!!
MOTION PLUS PLEASE
Seriously, this is awesome, zombie bashing!
The tiny text I agree with. I still don’t know what half of what was said via text in that game, and I finished it last year.
This is great news. I just played this on the 360 and think it would do well on the Wii. Imagine Dead Rising with head shots. The wii controller might actually make the guns useful.
As for everyone whining, “OMG they will have to reduce the number of zombies! WAAAAA!!”
To this I say, “Good!”. The number of zombies in Dead Rising was utterly masturbatory. If they cut the number of zombies, while slightly increasing their speed and ability to grab you, the game will actually play better IMO.
And if they include wii-motion-plus, the chain saws will be about 100 times more fun. But I doubt they will do this if its a straight port.
Lost Planet should be next. That game would be great on Wii.
AWESOME!!
I’ll say it RIGHT now, I doubt Capcom will need to reduce the zombies to a level that any of you weevils would even notice. 6 Zombies, maybe that’s an exaggeration, but HAVEN’T YOU PLAYED RE4 Wii. Last I checked, there were way more than 6 zombies on the screen.
GO play a PC game on a high end system, then on a low-end system. Notice that the game still plays fine on both, minus some visual eyecandy and detail level — nothing to fret about. It will be fine. If COD5 can be ported correctly to the Wii, so can this game.
I know their other games were a test, but this is the end result. It takes way more effort than another PS2 or Cube port. It will need to be almost completely redone from the ground up. (I’m using the Sid Meirs Evolution comments about why the Wii got put on hold as reference for my assumption.)
Capcom is once again my friend. :]
sounds good to me. it might not be a risk, but why does everything have to be a risk? can’t they just release a good game on this console as well? better late than never and this was a fun game from what i played at my brother’s house, so hooray for us!
Sweet good points Used Cisco and with motion plus it will be even better. I mean man it’s crazy how this controller is basically making games better. Man MS and SONY are starting to look like prisoners to their fan base.
another zombie game from capcom? talk about overload.
