Blow out the candles with WiiWare’s top five

4. LostWinds

It stole the show on WiiWare’s launch day from more distinguished names. A year later, it’s still one of the best games on the service.

Frontier Developments created something special with LostWinds, a visually stunning platformer with smooth and charming gameplay to match. The story is derivative—help little Toku save his island village from a sweeping evil—but innovative controls and gorgeous graphics make LostWinds a consistently engaging experience.

Somewhat similar to Kirby Canvas Curse on the DS, players use the Wii remote’s pointer to manipulate the wind and help Toku jump and float through levels prettier than those of most retail Wii games.

LostWinds spoke loudly about what’s possible on WiiWare.
