Bizarro World: Super Nintendo Never Existed

You ever wondered what would have happened if the Super Nintendo was never made? Where games would be now without it? I was wondering that myself and somehow stumbled upon a Youtube video of a “Pirated” version of Super Mario World for the Nintendo Entertainment System, and this really got me thinking about where the world of gaming would have been if the SNES never existed. So I pose this question to you Infendo, if the Super Nintendo was never conceptualized, where would the world of gaming be today?

Without the Super Nintendo, Nintendo would be unable to still compete in the Home Console market. We would be forced to choose between great HD graphics and lack of innovation, or great HD graphics and lack of innovation. Tough call.

if snes never existed sega would have dominated the home and arcade platforms then absorbed the turbo graphix 16 & neo geo within a couple years. shortly thereafter sega would release one crappy system after another the sega cd, the 32x, the turbosegageo, then the saturncast cdi-x2000 , and then finally the home market would collapse like in the early 80’s. we would have never had the playstation since nintendo never asked sony to help in creating thier own worst nightmare. everyone would be playing games on their computers and microsoft would have never needed to make the xbox. horrible world…

Something else would’ve come out, it really would’ve been no big deal.

@Rauru
Do you really think so? There was a time when the game console was seen as obsolete next to the home PC, because why have a dedicated console when the PC can do so much more? Bill Gates actually predicted the death of game consoles about 10 years before his company introduced the Xbox. Without the SNES and more importantly the golden age of SNES games, the game industry would have almost certainly crashed and gaming would be a very niche hobby for PC enthusiasts and those who program games themselves.

It looks like some sort of bizarre, low grade version of Super Mario World. Did that game actualy come out for the Nes?
As for your question about if the SNES didn’t exist. Thats simple.
The world would light on fire, and explode; and every man, woman, and child would die a very slow painful (and Snesless) death.
I think I just invented a new word. “Sneslessness – the property of not owning a Super Nintendo” it has a nice ring to it. I better copyright it quickly before somone steels it.
