As we approach the late fall release, news on the sequel to the 2005 GameCube title has been unusual
ly scarce. The last known demo was shown behind closed doors at the 2006 Leipzig game convention. The short demo was praised for keeping the third person, RTS/RTT gameplay, while adding in the Wii experience. But even at the convention there were hardly any details on what new content or features were to be added. That’s about all you can see from this stand point, but there are a few details that you might not have known.
    Here’s what we know…
-Release date: October 29th, 2007
-ESRB: Teen
-Tricked into believing that the Solar Empire is developing a devastating super-weapon, Commander Pierce and Colonel Windsor of the Anglo Isles launch a pre-emptive strike on the Coral Atolls. The world is once again at war.
-Nintendo WFC: 3 different online modes including…
· Assault: Instant Combat (King of the Hill style)
· Skirmish: Tactical depth (Base Battles/Capture the Flag)
· Co-op: Work with friends
-LAN Play: Connect two Wiis via LAN line for intense battles locally.
-New combat element: Water. This brings new marine units including Battleship, Frigate, Submarine, Dreadnought, Transport
-You must use all elements of combat: land, sea and air combat-6 different races, 5 different environments each with new units and vehicles
-More tactics: Capture facility buildings to re-spawn units (HQ, Barracks, Factories, Airfield, and Docks)
-Map Screen Commanding: Get a birds eye view to manage your troops from a far
-Larger game depth: 20+ single-player missions and 15+ multiplayer missions.
Increased replay value.
-Wii Remote: Get a better feel for the battlefield with an intuitive and accurate control scheme.

I’ve been a fan of the original for some time now and the addition of online and local multiplayer features makes the release of Battalion Wars 2 seem a long way off. Lets just hope we start seeing some support from Nintendo for this title.
What new additions are you hoping to be added?

This is one of my most highly anticipated games. I am hoping very, very strongly that it will come with or be compatible with a headset for online co-op play!
Headset, totally.
No headset. It was confirmed by IGN that there is no communication among players.
@miguel
when was this? On the most recent wiik in review podcast?
No…..it was sometime else on IGN. But just think about it….The game comes out in almost 2 months. Do you really think Nintendo would just throw in voice chat this soon? Nintendo likes to talk about big additions to there hardware/software (like voice chat) and wait a while. Trust me…voice chat is not happening in BW2.
Idk about a headset, but a “quick chat” would do the job. I know ill chat with my friends using the DS though. Thats what i do in strikers when my friend has pkmn.
Nintendo threw in the ability to use a USB keyboard in the latest update. It could possibly be used for communication in games.
There Killer goes and gets my hopes up even further. It makes sense for Nintendo to have text chat before voice to keep a closer watch over all the sexual predators.
I am very excited for this game, all about the online actually, a good game of CTF can really take the edge off…
If Brawl fails on the wifi part, this WILL be my wifi game of choice.
yeah I know everyone is still scared about the prospect of no brawl wifi, though I am confident with or without online brawl will still be solid. Though with it, the game would be untouchable…
guaranteed online rules!
I am looking forward to this title.
With the chat function, I have a feeling the player will hold down a button, press in a certain direction to have a preset message, “Enemy spotted!” “Taking fire, need support” etc.
I never got into Battalion Wars when it first came out. I’m an RTS kind of guy.
Sorry…I’m NOT an RTS kind of guy (see above comment).
This is my most anticipated title. Online sounds awesome. A simple text comm, using canned responses, like “attack now” or “lets have another go” would be easy and helpful for co-op.
You mean this game comes out this year???
Sheesh… This one is also getting the Metroid treatment from Nintendo’s marketing department, it seems!
Yeah, like I said before: Metroid Prime Corruptions, Super Mario Galaxy, and Battalion Wars 2: the three reasons we got a Wii!
If the online mode is fairly fleshed out (ranked matches, decent friend roster ability) I forsee just as much timed dumped into this game as I did with Halo 2.
I forsee more strategic planning involved in a game like Battalion Wars than the “all guns out blazing” winning strategy of Halo 2…
I dunno, Nintendo did say they had a surprise for us in September, so it’s POSSIBLE of being a headset. Anyways…I’m exhausted..I as a gamer can’t keep up anymore..There are SOO many AWESOME games!! It’s UNBELIEVABLE!

@InvisibleMan – I know they are different styles of game, I was just saying that this could occupy as much TIME as Halo 2 did of mine…you know, a lot.
