Atlus just released a new trailer for Dokapon Journey today. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the game, Dokapon Journey is a role playing game that mixes turn based “classic board game” style game play with RPG elements. You have to play to win and to win you have to play dirty, as the game system favors those who jump into fights and steal kills and exp from other players. As well as using special items to slow down or injure those who get in your way!

This game actually sounds kind of interesting, but my question is has anyone ever played a game that is like this? A board game and an RPG at the same time? This doesn’t seem to be like a normal tactics game.

You can find out more about the game at Atlus’s website below.

    Has Atlus ever published a “normal” game??

    I love turn-based SRPG games, especially the ones that Atlus releases for the DS, but I must confess I haven’t played the Dokapon games…

    By the way, the video has been deleted from YouTube, I wonder why? Atlus releases all of its trailers on YouTube, so can’t be a copyright issue.

    @Invisible Man

    Atlus just sent an update and deleted the other trailer.

    Yes. I’ve played a game just like that one. Dokapon Kingdom. It came out for the Wii awhile ago. Hard to find game. A lot of fun. Is this Dokapon #2?

    Yeah, also played Dokapon Kingdom. Fun, but takes some getting used to, and is long, so kindof a pain to have to get the exact same group of friends back together to resume the game.

    So it’s for people addicted to PvP gameplay…
