After more than half a year since its launch on Xbox 360, PS3, and PS2, Rock Band arrives on Wii this Sunday and carries an MSRP of $169 with drums, mic, and a single guitar. Is anyone in the room planning to buy? Or will you wait for Guitar Hero World Tour this October?

I’m waiting for Guitar Hero, definately. It’s $10 more. I can wait that much longer and pay that much more.
Nope… I simply cannot see the draw and/or point to these types of games. Oh well… give me more money for other games.
Have it for 360. I won’t be getting the GH:WT bundle, just the disc.
I’m not buying either; I don’t like the music in the games.
I will be waiting for GH:WT. Before the annocment of GH:WT I was going to get Rock Band but then decided to wait for GH:WT.
only if the GH3 guitar was compatible…
i’m waiting for GH:WT
I switched my pre-order for Rock Band over to GH:WT a few weeks ago. I was really excited about Rock Band, but GH:WT sounds like a much richer experience and it just seems like the GH guys care about us Nintendo owners a little bit more than the RB folks (see next week’s GH: On Tour for DS as another example).

I honestly can’t see who would buy Rockband on the Wii, especially when World Tour is right around the corner and 10 times better.
I believe it is EA in charge of publishing for Rockband? Well, hats off to them, because absolutely nobody is going to buy it on the Wii, now that World Tour is coming out. I hope they learned their lesson and will actually try next time.
Depending on which offer is the best in the end and then I’ll decide, so I’m waiting to see if Activision rises above the original (Rockband) or screws it up too.
NOPE! Late to the party, incompatibility with gh3 peripheral.
GH4 gets my vote. Seriously, EA should just produce less of these units because it won’t sell as well as they would have expected. Cut your losses while you still can.
I did the last-minute swap over to GH: World Tour.
It sounded a whole lot better, and even though I didn’t really care too much about DLC, with all the other bad facts about Rock Band, it just didn’t appeal to me anymore.
Those 5 USD bucks got swapped to something a whole lot better and better design (as well as GH:WT having DLC, too – that’s a plus).
Not even considering it.
I absolutely would have bought it if it released on time with the other versions, now I’m waiting for GH4. Here’s hoping for real DLC on 4.
gh4 is a little bit better but i have played this game and wouldn’t mind buying it. mmmmm mcdonalds
Im buying it simply because I have payed rock band on other consoles, love it, and can’t wait any longer to have my own copy. As long as the core gamley works fine, I’ll be happy.
If I have to cave, I’ll wait for GH. But really, I’m not good at GH and I’m not interested in (the admittedly gimped version of) Rock Band for Wii. There’s just too much that isn’t offered in this version of Rock Band that will be offered in GA: WT.
I’ll probably use my money to buy other games, though, since the asking price for any rhythm game is over my personal gaming budget.

waiting for Guitar Hero
no, because I own it for the 360. If I didn’t, I would probably wait for GH. The lack of downloadable content is a deal-breaker. But since there are so many Rock Band setups in bars around the country instead of “karaoke” you may feel a little left out.
Nope…and I have a great idea for anyone who is buying this…pop in your favorite CD and play air guitar or drums. Heck…even sing along. That way, you choose the music you want, and the experience of playing along is even better. Oh, and you’ll save a ton of money for other better games.
What’s that old saying: “A day late and dollar short”?
No to Rock Band Wii. Maybe to Guitar Hero 4… the game needs to be closer (and have features finalized) before making that judgment.
rock ban wii = absolutley lazy puplishers and develepors gh 4 = good publishers and devs of course im buying gh4
wow, 25 replies and not a single “yes.”
i hope for the sake of the gaming industry that this game bombs.
Nope, already got it for 360.
Nope, not going to get either. I just don’t want those bulky guitars and drums taking up space at my place. Not really worth it to me.
Hell No. GHIV.
Nope. They ported the PS2 version (which uses FMV of the “band” playing and is the reason you can’t create a “musician”), won’t feature online play, no DLC and the drums for GH IV are waaay better than those in Rock Band.
Also, over here in Mexico we have (as I have said waaay tooo maaaany times in the past) a department store called Liverpool that has about 5 “midnight sales” every year (usually on March, June, September, November and December) which consist of the whole store being at 20% store credit back with every purchase and gives you 18 months interest-free to pay for everything. GH IV will probably be $300-350 in Mexico, but at $17-20 a month it’s just a must buy…
No.
Whoa! Is that case white or clear? My eyes may be deceiving mii but it looks kind of clear.
yeah, mmmm. No thanks.
NO!
NO to no Guitar Hero guitar compatibility
NO to no downloadable songs
NO to the same price as the PS2 version a year later.
I refuse to buy any more music games until we get a real platform. I want to download what I want a la iTunes. This junk is getting old.
Why would I want to give money to a Company who doesn’t have the consideration to give us a half decent game for Wii. Let’s face it Rock Band Wii is nothing but an attempt to score some extra cash from the Wii owners while still keeping us second tier. Either that or their just plain lazy as hell in which case they also don’t deserve our money for their half assed put forth. Wii owners want (and diserve) the same quality of games that PS3 and Xbox 360 are getting, and EA doesn’t seem to get that, and until they do I don’t plan on letting any of my money go to them.
Besides Guitar Hero: World Tour will be way better for nearly the same price. You’d have to be deaf dumb and blind to choose Rock Band over it.
Nope, got it on launch day for the 360. DLC ftw. I have 193 songs in it, only 58 of which came on the disk. This Tuesday I will crack the 200 song point
Not the Wii version but the Playstation 3 version in about half a year once I return from my study abroad. The lack of DLC really bothers me as what is on offer in the US interests me greatly.
despite all the ill wishing, it looks like it sold out of amazon pre-orders. i guess that’s expected, so it will be interesting if sales keep up after launch.
gonna again call this as the average wii owner not having perfect information as to impending substitutes, due to being younger and/or more casual. i guess that’s the song i always sing, but i thought i’d add it as a small counterpoint. i suspect it will sell pretty well.
Just bought Rock Band for PS2 for $100 via an Amazon.com special. When I upgrade to a PS3, I’ll take my peripherals with me. Since I’ve already got 2 GH3 guitars for Wii, I’ll just buy the GH4 game/mic/drum bundle (provided they offer one).
Nope, Harmonix did everything in their power to make the product as unappealing as possible. I too hope the product fails, they need to be taught not to so brazenly treat Wii owners as second class citizens. Especially when EA shows how it’s done right.
All these GH and Rock Band games for all these platforms . . . I just wish they would incorporate cross-platform online networking, so that a PS3, XBox 360, and Wii owners could rock together over the ‘net.
It’s technically possible, as Capcom pulled it off with a Street Fighter vs. Marvel game that linked Dreamcast and Playstation. However, I’m sure it’s more business reasons why we don’t see this.
Anyway, my choice will be GH:WT. If I’m going to load my tiny game room up with fake instruments, may as well make it worth it and team rock online.
