Pre-orders for DS Brain Age Soar
Tuesday, April 11th, 2006 at 9:28pm by Staff
The Japanese phenomenon that was Brain Training might make a repeat here in North America. Punch Jump writes: “Pre-orders for the Nintendo DS mental exercise game Brain Age have soared on buzz of daily training that can keep brains in shape. On Monday’s Amazon.com Computer and Video Games sales charts, Brain Age leaped from #135 to the #5 position.”
Brain Age for the Nintendo DS will be released to retail next week in US. Who’s buying?

I dunno, seems like a game I’d pick up for a half-hour and never pick up again.

I placed my pre-order at my local Game Stop three weeks ago. I’ll be getting it the day it comes out.

I know when a Pokemon Phenomenon is coming and this game is getting near that peak. The feeling is exactly the same before Pokemon took over.
The build up like Pokemon had is there, except it doesn’t have and Pokemon online guilds…yet….But all the other factors are there:
-Sold millions in Japan alone.
-Hype in many publications about it’s success in Japan.
-Small but growing online fan base
-Campaign that is aimed at a certain demographic.
So i won’t be surprize if each game sells a million copies in the US by the end of 2006.

I’ve gotten both my mom and dad to play this game and they enjoyed it, even my 8 year old brother likes it, gotta increase that bloodflow to the prefrontal cortex.

I’ve got it pre-ordered from Amazon. My non-gaming wife is also pretty excited about it.
I’m wondering how Nintendo plans to market this thing and, for that matter, how it plans to market the Revolution to non-gamers.

its weird but i think the bigges marketing is going to be gamers making their siblings who normally don’t play just try it and realize its potential. everyone wants to keep sharp, i can’t wait to use this game. i’ve noticed when i work in a job that doesn’t involve money, then return to one it takes me a bit to get back used to quickly calculating. this game can keep you at your cutting edge making mental task fast, easy, and actually fun. you’ve gotta hand it to nintendo.

So could this be the next tetris?
You know, like even your mum will play it?

Well to help the trend be set I’ve preordered my copy of it over here in the UK. We have to wait until May 26th though, so unfair! Hopefully it’l do well. I’m looking forward to giving my brain a mini workout.

Damn! I didn’t realized that the release date was around the corner!! I plan to pre-order ASAP!!
If my mom likes it, I know what I am getting her for mother’s day. (Hopefully it will hold her off until Zelda TP comes out!)
