Activision explains lack of Guitar Hero track packs on Wii

The weekly Activison press releases concerning new downloadable content for Guitar Hero World Tour have always confused Wii owners with platform DLC availability. Track packs consisting of 2-3 songs are available on both the 360 and PS3 platforms, but strangely not on the Wii. Wii World Tour music buyers must purchase singles without the convenient (and sometimes cheaper) solution. Nintendo World Report recently received some feed back on the matter…
Due to technical or licensing restrictions, the DLC offerings will not be the same for every console platform. For example, certain artists prefer to keep the integrity of the track pack rather than releasing singles and the Wii’s infrastructure only allows us the ability to release single songs as DLC.
We are very excited to be the first third-party publisher to bring a library of playable DLC songs to the Nintendo Wii platform. Vicarious Visions has pioneered with Nintendo a seamless way to download, store and access songs via SD Card. The development team is committed to offering Wii fans worldwide as much variety of DLC as possible on a regular basis.
I suppose that’s a valid exuse, but couldn’t this of been built into the Wii version before the ship date?

I personally like getting the individual songs. Plus, you need to have enough space open on you Wii to download the song before it gets moved over to the SD card. So having space for three songs in a track-pack is sort of a dealbreaker for me.

You’re telling me that since you can’t offer track packs, artists don’t want to make that extra dollar from people who will buy all the songs in the “pack”? They don’t want to offer their songs to as many people as possible; they want to exclude an entire console? Who’s in charge of making these completely retarded decisions?
Couldn’t they just charge you for the entire group of songs and mark them as “Purchased” so you can download them individually?

If they wanted to do track packs, they could figure it out. Like Neko says, you could pay for the track pack and then download each song individually. This is just another lame excuse not to do something right the first time.

Oddly enough, since this story The Killers track pack was released and (supposedly, I don’t have it yet) is available on the Wii as individual songs.
