72 Hour Metroid Marathon

Another group of speed run hooligans are spreading word of their upcoming 72 hour long Metroid Marathon. Hit the jump for full details on how you can watch, and win prizes. Did I mention a copy of Metroid Prime 3 signed by Retro Studios is involved?
On behalf of The Speed Gamers, we invite you to watch our live stream of the complete Metroid video game series, this weekend from August 15th-18th. Our organization will be taking donations during the marathon to go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Prizes will be given out after each of the 9 games in this epic series, each prize following the Metroid theme, from video games to T-shirts to plushies.
Retro Studios has recently given their blessing and will be generously donating our grand prize, a copy of Metroid Prime 3 (Wii) signed by the development team. We are very excited to have their help and will hopefully do justice to the series they helped build.
The Speed Gamers have a growing legacy of marathon gaming for charities. In March and also in June we played through the Zelda series, raising over 2400 dollars for St. Jude’s and for autism research. We have also attempted to raise our credit in the game marathon community by playing through the entire Super Mario series, completing all ten console Mario games (including Lost Levels and Luigi’s Mansion) in under 24 hours. We take our jobs as seriously as we can with high-quality feeds and capture cards, and run a constant commentary to raise interactivity with our fans and have a good time.

Yeah, jerod, raising money for kids with autism is pretty boring. In fact, this is the 3rd series of games I’ve heard about. how *dare* they. They should learn an entirely new skill set for each fundraiser, obviously.

That’s pretty cool I guess. I’ll try to catch a bit of the marathon to actually help me get further in a couple Metroid games. More power to those players for doing something awesome.

Wowww its gona be AWESOME. Also yah they are doing it fullscreen with a capture card. TSG doesnt do a huge room cam like the other marathons… that way you actually see the game easily plus it runs smooth so yah. Dont miss this!!!
