My wait for Mario’s upcoming game just got a little more bearable, because for the last two hours I’ve been unable to tear myself away from Freakyforms, a brand-spankin’ new Nintendo property that just hit eShop for $6.99.
It’ll be a little while before I can write a review, because this is the kind of game that starts you off with limited options and keeps growing the more you play. At this point, however, I can tell you it’s good. Really, really good. If you’re a fan of Animal Crossing, and you love to create, buy it. (more…)

Nintendo Press Release – 11/10/2011
Nintendo will be making an unlikely pit stop at the 2011 LA Auto Show, marking the video game company’s first-ever appearance at an automotive trade show. Members of the media are invited to an exclusive presentation by Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime and special guest Ryan Friedlinghaus, founder and CEO of West Coast Customs, to unveil an exclusive collaboration between the iconic gaming brand and one of the most recognized names in the custom automotive industry.
The presentation will take place during the LA Auto Show’s Nov. 17 Press Day at 12:10 p.m. Consumers will also be able to visit the Nintendo booth from Nov. 18-27, when the show is open to the public.
I’m guessing this is promotional for Mario Kart 7. Anyone Infendo readers planning on hitting this event?
Just three days to go before the Mushroom Kingdom takes over your 3DS! After that, we still have Paper Mario, Mario Tennis, and a new Super Smash Brothers to look forward to. And then…
Where would you like to see Nintendo take Mario for his next platform adventure? (more…)
So Nintendo knows that the release of any Mario title is kind of a big deal, and when Super Mario 3D Land releases this Sunday, they plan on turning Times Square into a Mario themed obstacle course to celebrate. I don’t usually care for big cities, what with all the pollution ludicrously high taxes, but it’s days like these that I wish I could live in a city like New York.
Nintendo be decking out Times Square November 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with life-size warp pipes, trampoline coin jumps, and a flagpole finale. If that’s not enough, attendees of the event will even be given the chance to purchase the game one day earlier than the rest of the country a the Toys”R”Us which is located next the event site. How much is a plane ticket to New York again?
Are there any Infendo readers who live in the New York area who plan on attending the event? If so, do us a favor and send in your Mario themed pictures of the Mario Madness!
A Link to the Past was the first game in the Zelda franchise that make me a lifelong fan of everything Hyrule. Sure, I had played the NES Legend of Zelda titles, but there was just something about the depth found the in SNES classic that really hit a homerun in my book. From the muli-leveled dungeons, to the collect-a-thon that was the 24 hidden pieces of heart, A Link to the Past had so much to offer. Now it seems as if Miyamoto may be planning on going back the simpler times of gameplay mechanics from the top-down perspective, and nothing could make me happier, not even three kittens and a ball of yarn.
In an interview with gamesradar, Eiji Aonuma was asked whether Nintendo has any plans to make another 2D Zelda game, and he had a few interesting things to say:
“Well actually, even Mr. Miyamoto himself has been talking recently about going back to the 2D Zelda games, in particular the ones that were designed with multiple levels to the world like A Link to the Past, and taking those 2D graphics and recreating them in 3D so that you could get a sense for the depth of those worlds. That’s something that might be interesting to do, so I would say there might be a possibility of something like that in the future.”
Even though this doesn’t by mean that the next Zelda title for 3DS will be top-down, it at least means that the fine people at Nintendo are at least toying with the prospect. Seeing as how the last proper top-down Zelda was Minish Cap for the GBA, I think we are more than due for another one. I would even take a 3D Classics version of A Link to the Past, as it is still my favorite 2D Zelda title.

Zelda Skyward Sword starts slower than any other Zelda in recent memory. In fact, it took two dates with her before I decided I wanted to keep dating. (more…)
Four days ’till Super Mario 3D Land! That gives us plenty of time to discuss deep, important issues such as…
Of all the weird, crazy minor characters that have taken part in Mario’s surreal adventures, which one deserves more appearances? I have several favorites: The Bob-omb King, The Pianta Street Vendor, any of the Lava Hippos… (more…)

Great essay by Game Informer’s Jeff Cork on struggling to find a copy of the Legend of Zelda in 1987.

New Zelda clone coming to iOS next year. The game, called Oceanhorn, is being made by an unknown Finnish developer. Still, provided they can get the animation and gameplay right, this could be a lot of fun—certainly something we may one day see on the Infendo Entertainment System. (Thanks, Mark)
