Nintendo today dropped the price of the DS Lite to $100, effective June 5. They’re also re-realeasing Mario games in red boxes, which have proven to help boost sales. As a reminder, it’s stuff like this that rubs independent publishers the wrong way, since Nintendo doesn’t allow them to release specially colored boxes. (more…)
As I was playing Wii Sports today getting in a little bowling action, I thought back to November 2006 when Wii was the hot new thing. Can you believe that it has been nearly 5 years since Nintendo unleashed motion controls onto the masses? The idea was so revolutionary that The Revolution was how we all came to know Wii….before Nintendo turned their console into a wiener joke of course. I kid.
Booting up Wii for the first time, before even popping in a game I was amazed just by watching my hand cursor rotate in tune with the movement of my hand. In short, it was amazing. It was a moment in gaming where you had to sit back and think about how far the industry has come. A moment of ‘wow.’ (more…)

NES-Wizards & Warriors
Wizards & Warriors was developed by Rare back when they were still best friends with Nintendo. An action-platformer, Wizards & Warriors had some of the best music in the business. Although the sequal, Ironsword: Wizards & Warriors II was generally considered the better game, the original still plays well because of its spot on controls. (more…)
This one’s a doozy. Coming from the Facebook page of developer n-Space, concept art for Heroes of Ruin was spotted with info that the title will allegedly be a new 3DS title published by Square-Enix. The game will also feature a panther wielding a humongous sword.
n-Space is best known for the Gamecube first-person adventure title Geist, and are also responsible for many of the Nintendo DS Call of Duty games. As such, they are no stranger to working with Nintendo hardware, which is promising for the future of their first 3DS project.
The title was previously trademarked by Square-Enix earlier this year, and the artwork has since removed from the developers page. Another title to look forward to hearing about at e3? I think so!

Many of the items appear in almost every title such as the Fire Flower and Mushroom, while others have only appeared in a single title such as the Frog Suit. You tell me. Nintendo has a listing at ESRB for Zelda Universe, an “online” game. Incidentally, Zelda Universe is the name of Nintendo’s official Zelda website. Thoughts?
It has been confirmed previously that a Zelda timeline does in fact exist. Problem is, we probably won’t ever see it for ourselves according to friend of Infendo Triforce Johnson. According to Johnson, Nintendo feels that if the master timeline was revealed, it would take away from the mystique of franchise.
Here is another take from Dan Owsen of NoA:
Dan Owsen: You know, at one point we had drafted a timeline and wanted to make it available online. We showed it to the guys in Japan and they basically told us that it would be best if we didn’t post it. They do have a timeline that has continuity between the games but they wanted to keep it open for how each player views the chronology of the series. There are a lot of connections between the games, but they do have a timeline that has continuity. It’s up to the player to place all the pieces together.
I have to agree with Nintendo on this one. It would be nice to have an official word on the Zelda timeline, but that wouldn’t leave much room to the imagination, would it?
