Unofficial Game Boy week continues on Infendo!

Amid the final Wii drought and lack of deep 3DS games at the moment, I’ve been having a blast revisiting the Game Boy Advance’s library, most of which I assume many of us never played, particularly the latter years as both DS and Wii were already in full swing. …in a good way, of course. I was cruisin’ around Wuhu Island in the airplane and decided to try a loop-the-loop. With the 3D effect turned all the way up, it was a bit nauseating. I see this as a very good thing…the Nintendo 3DS can immerse gamers in a way no other system can.

Anyone know a good place to custom paint a GBA SP and how much I should expect to pay? It’s hard to play my light blue AGS-101 in public because it looks like a baby sitter. I’m only kidding. But I’d still like to get a smoking hot paint job. Any recommendations, Internet?

Worried that Ocarina of Time for 3DS will be nothing more than a port of a port when it releases this June? If so then tonight you can rest easy because along with updating the textures and character models, developer Grezz0 will also be introducing a Boss Challenge mode to Link’s first adventure in three dimensions.

Not much else is known about the new mode, but any new content for a game I have already purchased three versions of is absolutely a plus. According to  Eurogamer the new mode will unlock some sort of reward when beaten to completion, but no one at the moment is talking about what this reward will be. Perhaps we will finally get to play the three Zelda titles developed for Phillips CD-i the way they were intended to be enjoyed…in 3D!

Super Street Figher IV: 3D edition is a pretty great 3DS launch title among the many mediocre and just plain bad. This game has proved to me right from the launch that fighting games can work great on the 3DS, so it is great to see the arrival of another one so soon.

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift 2 looks to stay close to its console and arcade counterparts, but much like SSFIV: 3D edition, there aren’t as many bells and whistles as its bigger brother. Having played the arcade and Xbox 360 variety of Blazblue, I can tell you that each character plays entirely different from one another which will make mastering the a challenge. For me this was a fresh take on the tired “quarter circle punch” fighters that have become so popular.

My only fear for the title is that the lack of an online multiplayer mode will hurt it in the long run. We will find our for ourselves when the game launches May 31st.

By a show of hands, who has never even heard of the BlazBlue franchise?

Hey, I’m Holly. I’m the sixth in a family of nine children. I attribute my love of video games to my older siblings, with whom I played NES, SNES, and N64. I continued the legacy, playing Game Cube and Wii with my younger siblings in years to come. Family and Nintendo go hand-in-hand for me.

The first Nintendo system I had all to myself was a Game Boy Color with that pretty, see-through purple casing. I must have been 10 or 11 when I found that in my Christmas stocking…it was tragically stolen within a few months. Fortunately, I would go on to receive a Game Boy Advance SP for graduating the sixth grade (it’s a big deal, ya know!). (more…)

The first time I played 3DS, my eyes felt tired—But since I played for three straight hours, I wasn’t surprised. The next day, the 3D felt much more natural. It reminds me of getting used to trifocal glasses; my first day with the lenses was like looking through a funhouse mirror, and the next day everything looked perfectly normal. Eyes learn quickly!

Now I’m using 3D mode (set anywhere from 50% to 100%) most of the time and feeling no strain or tiredness at all. I really only turn off the 3D when I need to conserve the battery. (more…)
