According to Siliconera, the game is a point-and-click adventure reminiscent of Acclaim’s 1995 3DOadventure title D. It’s set in a creepy mansion, where players can look around rooms using the 3DS’ gyro sensor and interact with objects using the touch screen. Players can also talk to characters using the microphone, ensuring you won’t be able to play it in public without risking great humiliation. It’s due out in Japan this summer — we’ve got our fingers crossed for a speedy localization.

Having fun with Pokemon Black/White? I know that I sure am. So many new Pokemon to catch, 8 new badges to collect, even an exclusive city to explore. I think I will hold off on completing my final gym battle, however, because Nintendo today has announced that the Pokemon Global Link scheduled for launch March 30 has been put on hold due to last weeks earthquake in Japan.

Citing the need to conserve energy resources, a new date for the launch is unknown at this time. I’m sure most Pokemon fans can sympathize, and are doing what they can to help with the relief efforts.

When the service finally launches, I cannot wait to take my team of six and battle with the best Pokemanics the world has to offer! Don’t forget to add your friend code to our friend code list and get playing with your fellow Infendo readers and editors.

Has the delay affected your Pokemoning? Have you even noticed the services absence?

I was really hoping that once we had the ability to take 3D photos with the 3DS that we could still share 3D images with our friends that don’t have a 3DS. It looks like Phil Dhingra, a developer from Austin, has figured out a way to do it. Dhingra has created a site where you can upload MPO photo files from a 3DS and they are automagically converted into a variety of views. One of those views is a red-cyan image that can be viewed in 3D with 3D glasses.

I highly recommend the following examples. [1] [2] [3] The effect is very pronounced and works better than I could’ve imagined.

It’s awesome to see this sort of ingenuity, even before the 3DS is released in the US! Anyone else able to check out these pics in 3D?

Favorable yet critical:

I’m pretty comfortable saying that the Nintendo 3DS is the best gaming platform the company has ever created: The user experience is quite polished in a variety of ways, and its forward-thinking core feature really does make gaming better. Nintendo will sell a lot of them and glasses-free 3-D will be a big deal in the next generation of gadgets, just like an avalanche of touch screens followed the first DS.
But all that may not be enough to keep smartphones and tablets from siphoning away more and more of the gamers that have long kept Nintendo in charge of the portable gaming world.

WIRED 3-D visuals are true game-changer. Variety of fun, pre-loaded apps. Lots of reasons to carry it around in sleep mode.
TIRED Camera images are low quality. Chews through battery in the blink of an eye. Games start at $40.

Notice the use of “pretty” when describing comfortable. That’s code for “still not sure.”

Opinions might have changed since we last asked a similar question, so I’ll ask again:

I should have seen it coming, but when I pre-ordered Nintendogs….plus Cats, I was caught off-guard when the clerk asked, “Which version?” For some crazy reason, I’d assumed Nintendo had consolidated the line into one definitive volume this time around. The idea of releasing three different versions of Nintendogs was a charming idea back in 2005. But today, when we all know each version contains every breed (they unlock in a different order), is releasing three flavors of non-game a good idea or a waste of resources? Will I be stuck with the RC Peach Cart again instead of Mario or Bowser? As long as my version contains the Super Mario house for purchase, I’m okay.

Nothing against poodles and bulldogs, but my pre-order went to the goldy. One last thing: Is it just me, or do all three cats look like they’re plotting murder? Look out, puppies!!!

One week from today, the 3DS will be available in North America (or sooner, if you’re in the EU/UK). What can you do to pass the time?

Like fog? According to a rep for D3 Publisher, who are hard at work on 3DS title Dream Trigger 3D, the 3DS has a built in chip dedicated to building in-game fog effects. This fog chip should thrill anyone planning on making a lighthouse simulator for 3DS.

All joking aside, I don’t exactly know why this was needed, but I hope developers start putting it to use right away regardless. Imagine the fog appearing to roll out of your 3DS screen as you explore the forest section of a brand new 3DS Zelda title. It may also be helpful in FPS games that make use of smoke grenades. Heck, even a game like Fifa could find use for the chip by making Santiago Bernabeu stadium have a rolling fog as Christiano Ronaldo dribbles down the pitch.
