Want to sample WiiWare games before deciding which one best suits your tastes? Starting next week, you can.

“The initial lineup of demos available on Nov. 22 includes BIT.TRIP FATE, And Yet It Moves, ThruSpace and Jett Rocket,” Nintendo said in a  statement today. “Additional demos will be added on Mondays and each will remain available on the Wii Shop Channel for a limited time.”

Although demos have existed on PC for over a decade, and HD consoles for five years now, it’s never too late to start offering free trials. The only thing that would have made this better would have been demos for every WiiWare and Virtual Console game indefinitely.

Me? Star Fox Adventures. That game sucked. I don’t know what I was thinking. What about you?

Gaming Age Forum-goer Entrement started an interesting discussion yesterday, in regards to Nintendo Wii becoming cold product. “This is not a qualitative analysis, or whether you like the Wii or Nintendo games,” he writes. “But the future doesn’t look too bright,” he says, for the following reasons:

The 3DS: Nintendo is not a big company. They have small, dedicated internal teams. With the 3DS push, could one say that many of the key Nintendo teams–the Zelda Team, after finishing SS and EAD Tokyo, who can be working on anything, with Miyamoto hinting on 3D Mario on the 3DS, could Nintendo’s dev teams already moving onto the 3DS.

The Wi___ line: The Wii____ line has been gangbusters for Nintendo. With the exception of WiiMusic, they sold millions worldwide, however, the most recent–Wii Party didn’t even chart on NPD. I hear it did respectably in Japan and I’m not aware of Europe’s reception. But such a big drop off in a such a tent-pole line seems troubling for Nintendo. (more…)

Surprise! After dismal support, Nintendo quietly discontinues Wii Speak, reports 1up. An estimated 13 users are now storming Nintendo headquarters in outrage.

Or so says Nintendo president Reggie Fils-Aime, in an interview with Kotaku.

“Wii has many, many more units to sell,” Fils-Aime said, after revealing that lifetime Wii sales in the U.S. stand at 30 million. “After we’ve reached an installed base of 45 million here in the U.S., we can have a conversation about the next generation.”

When asked if Nintendo needs to release a Wii successor by next year, Fils-Aime offered a blunt, “No.” (NOTE: The question was “release” not “announce.”  I’m betting Nintendo will soft announce something at E3 next year, although the newly released 3DS will rightfully retain the spotlight.”)

Either way, it’s hard to fault Nintendo’s patience. After all, the company says the Wii still sells 23 percent faster than the PlayStation 2 did during the same period. Infendo readers need no reminder that the PS2 eventually finished as the best-selling console of all time, selling a whopping 145 million units to date. (Via 1up)

Console games have been ported to cellphones for nearly a decade. Heavily stripped down, and nary a likeness, but still ported.

The reverse, on the other hand—cellphone games being ported to consoles, that is—rarely, if ever happens. Until now. iPhone Hit Angry Birds Coming to Consoles, read the latest headlines.

In no way am I trying to undermine Angry Birds. It’s a fun little game. I’m just more fascinated by the fact that mobile games are leading game development in at least one area. Crazy.

At this point, I’d buy Epic Mickey just to wander around in its twisted mirror image of Disneyland. I knew the park attractions played a role in the quest, but until I saw this video I had no idea just how completely park-centric the game is.

Nice to know there’s another huge title coming up right after DKC Returns. I seriously hope the gameplay’s as fun as the designs, or I’m gonna be one disappointed Mouseketeer. Fingers crossed!

Judging by the buzz surrounding this game on Disney fan sites, Epic Mickey’s going to sell quite a few Wiis to a new sector of casuals.

I honestly don’t know. Admittedly, I’ve even been a little jaded by lightsaber games, since I think tactile feedback is necessary and playing with sticks might be a better alternative.

That said, a friend asked me, so I thought I’d open it up to the always handsome and intelligent Infendo readers. So… what’s the best Wii lightsaber game to date? Secondly, what’s the best Wii lightsaber game for kids (i.e. rated E for everyone)?
