Despite their improved quality, third-party controllers have sold worse than they did a decade ago when compared to first-party controllers, according to the NPD. So we want to know:

Metroid Other M is supposed to be launching sometime during the Summer according to the translation of the Japanese teaser website. Is 2010 the year of Nintendo? Maybe… just maybe.

I got an anonymous tip e-mail sent to me today about a game being made by Mistwalker studios called The Last Story. Mistwalker is a third party game studio that was created by the original man behind the Final Fantasy series.

Last Story is said to draw on the emotions of the player/character, and if I remember correctly a game developer once said that “it is easier to make a person laugh then cry”, and seeing as how this game is said to play around emotions… I wonder how that exactly is going to work. Especially since it doesn’t seem to be a horror game, yet more of an original RPG that can be as close as you can get to a Final Fantasy game. What do you guys think?

Want to see the new Zelda, more Mario Galaxy 2, and Vitality Sensor stuff? Then you’re in luck, because Nintendo plans to show all three at E3, according to a Nintendo investor meeting held in Tokyo today. The company also plans to show Metroid Other M. No word yet on what else they plan to show, so you’ll just have to wait until July 15-17 to find out, impatient ones.

That’s right, kids! We’re not talking about the new Pokemon Ranger. Not a new Mystery Dungeon. Not even a remake of an older game. We’re talking about a possible successor to the Diamond/Pearl/Platinum games.

What does Nintendo president Satoru Iwata think of the newly unveiled iPad? Oversized iPhone. “It’s a bigger iPod Touch,” he told the Associated Press. “No surprises.”

Okay. But what about all those fancy 3D televisions shown at the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this month? Impractical. “I have doubts whether people will be wearing glasses to play games at home,” he said.

When asked for comment, Infendo staffers replied, “Agreed.”

Who’s my favorite top-selling handheld gaming console? That’s right Nintendo DS, it’s you – and you deserve it.

Between the original DS, the updated “DS Lite,” and the new DSi, Nintendo’s double screened handheld has topped over 125 million in hardware sales – enough to populate an entire country! At the current writing, there are more Nintendo DS systems in the world than citizens of France. Or the United Kingdom. Combined. It’s almost enough to equip every man, woman, and child in Japan for a nation-wide Mario Kart DS tournament – but enough with the national metrics – let’s just say Nintendo has sold a LOT of handheld consoles.

We salute you, Nintendo DS handhelds – you won the console wars. Also, you beat France.
