Hey Nintendo – Where is Mario Party 9?

Seriously, it’s been almost 30 months since Mario Party 8 was released and two years ago this month was when the DS version came out. So, hey Nintendo, where is Mario Party 9? Just be sure to include online multiplayer, MotionPlus, Balance Board, and WiiSpeak support (Zapper can be optional) … okay??

I rented MP8, and didn’t care for it at all, so I doubt I would even be interested in MP9.

Oh all the things for Nintendo to devote its resources… ANOTHER Mario Party title doesn’t even hit the radar. The number 9 says it all.

Ironically, the MP series has been selling more with each release. You’d think they would release another. Not that I’d buy it, but . . .

What is Mario Party? I have never played it, much less heard about it. It must be somewhat good if they made 8 iterations of it. What system did it start on?

If Mario Party 9 came out with online support I would get it in a heartbeat; I have a few friends that love this game and it would be fun to play it online since we can’t always get together in the same place.
Motion Plus and balance board features would be nice, as long as its not mandatory.

Mario Party hasn’t been fun in a looooong time, so I’d really rather Nintendo put their resources toward other, better projects.

I think its a good thing we haven’t seen Mario Party 9 yet. Maybe they are actually putting some time and effort into it

Doubt it: if they were currently working on it, we would have heard about it a long time ago.
But it really would be nice to have a MP game with optional balance board and motion plus, since, well lets face it: nothing will ever use them (except the next zelda)

I actually wouldn’t mind another Mario Party game, and the addition of online multiplayer would help make it more enjoyable. Heck, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to throw in usage of Wii peripherals, especially some balance board action.
However, I think I would be more interested in seeing the next Mario Party be more of a collection of the best minigames from the whole series.

If the game actually had online multiplayer and use of most of the peripherals, I would pick it up.
Heck, make it so one of the games is how low can you get your heart rate in 30 seconds, then anothere where you have to spike. Vitality Sensor use!

I would definitely permit Nintendo to simply remake Mario Party 2 for Wii.

Wii Speak would be possible, like the microphone in 6 & 7…that worked great (”missile missile”", haha)
Nintendo could make it easy on themselves and make a “Best of Mario Party” featuring the best boards and best mini games.

Put mario party 2 on wiiware and call it mario party 9, then I’d buy it, otherwise put the series to rest.

It is a very needed rest for the series. I bought mario party 4 back in the day, and I haven’t felt any need to buy any other version since.
And maybe it’s just me, but I’m not sure about mario party online, without real interaction with other people. That’s against the purpose of the game, imo.

Nintendo seems to be quite on this one. Considering the Wii as a multi player, part system you think this would be a no brainier!

I would love for them to implement old-school Mario Party segments/concepts into it. Though, if it was something exciting like you are pointing too, you’d think they’d want to brag about it and leave people’s tongues dripping with anticipation. Honestly, I didn’t think of it but if they add old Mario Party segments, that’d be awesome. I’ve just been focusing on Wifi/internet capabilities. They just HAVE to do it. If not for MP9, then for MPDS2 if not both.
For anybody saying it’s not coming, that’s absurd. What are you guys smokin? Not only has the series been extremely successful, but MP8 and MPDS are the top 2 MP’s on the best-selling MP list. That’s saying a lot. I’m hoping for Wifi and if that gets added, I can say now that the game will probably be slightly above average right off the bat (part of that may be homerism because im a die-hard MP fan.) Fact is; it WILL be made. And this game has potential to be a HUUUUGEEE resurgence to the MP home-console series if they add Wifi/internet capability AND bring back old segments from the first 3 MP’s. It’s really not hard to do those things at all, I’d imagine…though, I won’t hold my breath

If they DO make another Mario Party game, I hope they take a hint from Mario Kart DS and make it more like the old games were. 1 and 2 were rockin’, every one since then (for the most part, I don’t believe I’ve played them ALL) has been a little too gimmicky and just not… awesome. I love the concept and such, my friends and I still love to Mario Party, but I just don’t find it quite as exciting as the mini games from the original ones. Even when I go back and play them now, they’re just a little better for some reason.

I really want an Online Mario Party. That would be amazing. Imagine being able to sit down and play through the “story” modes with friends online! Or even strangers!

The reason why they haven’t released Mario Party 9 is because Mario Party 8 is still selling. Every year they would release a new one. It would start off strong and then sales would slide. They needed a new one each year to keep the sales coming. They no longer need to release a new one yearly.
Same reason they don’t have a sequel to Nintendogs, Mario Kart DS, New Super Mario Bros. DS, or Brain Age 3 even though they are huge sellers.
Now WTH is WarioWare Unbalanced(BB support)?
