With almost 60 milllion consoles in homes around the world the Wii could be the next major launch pad for a MMO. Anything from major monthly-payment titles to free-to-play micro transaction games could find a successful home on the Wii. It all comes down to which publisher/developer has the guts to follow through with such a project. Home console MMOs haven’t had the best of luck over the years nor have developers had the budget to support such projects. However, the possibility of a Wii MMO is bright with games such as Monster Hunter 3 which utilize four player co-op in a massive world.
Just a quick weekend thought to ponder over. Would you like to see a MMO on the WIi?

Here on Infendo we never hesitate to tell you about each new iteration of the DS, but I don’t think we’ve ever told you what to do with your old handhelds once you upgrade. Two dedicated young men from New York started Games For Heroes and have been sending used handheld games to troops serving overseas for almost two years now. It’s surprising to hear that the number one request from troops is for a DS, PSP, or other game, but not so surprising when you learn that a large number of soldiers are under 20 years old.
So if you get a new DSi this holiday season, consider donating your old DS or DS Lite rather than letting it collect dust.

Ok, so hands up if you’re a Nintendo fan? That seems to be most people here, good stuff. I wonder though, how many of you would say you were a ‘fanboy’ (or fanman)? Probably less, but I would definately put myself in this category and it’s very difficult to be a die hard fanboy and a wider videogame fan at the same time.
I’ve never owned anything other than Nintendo consoles. I still have (and play) my NES, SNES, N64, ‘Cube and Wii as well as the likes of my DS and GBA and have vehemently dismissed any suggestion that any rival console is better than any of these. Not in a childish ‘la la la, I’m not listening’ kind of way, but with logic and reason and I honestly believe Nintendo consoles are the best (otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this on this website). As a result, I’ve never had any desire to own a Playstation or an X-Box or Sega etc and if there were ever any games on those consoles that I wanted to play, well my brothers usually had them so I could just commandeer their consoles for a session.
Lately however I’ve found myself contemplating becoming a ‘Wii60’ owner. This has been brought about, predominantly by extensive (and increasingly drunken) online multiplayer sessions at friends’ houses – usually COD and Halo – and the arrival of Modern Warfare 2 and Brutal Legend. This has left me feeling very guilty.
Do you guys consider Super Mario Bros. 2 a real Mario game? Or do you consider it something else altogether?
When Shigeru Miyamoto joined Nintendo as an artist in 1977, he did so after graduating from some no-name community college. Apparently, that wouldn’t fly today, says the Father of Mario.
“Nintendo has become one of those companies that graduates from colleges and good universities really want to work for,” Miyamoto said in an interview with Edge this month. “And that means that a lot of the recent recruits for Nintendo have tended to have the higher degree from the prestigious colleges and universities and whatnot. So if I were applying for a job here today with my actual college degree, I would probably not be employed by Nintendo!”
To all you overlooked community college grads who might be the next Miyamoto, we salute you.
