They should probably have included “shortages expected this winter” in the fine print as well (or is that a given with Nintendo supply chains these days?).

Wonder where the new Virtual Console releases have been? According to wordpress blog “GameBag” writer Jorge, they’ve been passed over in favor WiiWare’s higher sales. Jorge asked a Nintendo customer service representative, who reportedly said:
“We understand your concern about the lack of service on the VC as of late. Due to sales numbers being far greater recently on Wiiware than on Virtual Console, we have decided to steer in the direction of WiiWare.
Also, we in America have NO plans to update the Internet Channel or the Nintendo Channel. We hope you understand”
Blunt, to the point, and heartbreaking. I feel like Nintendo just broke up with my inner-child. The statement by no means signifies the end of Virtual Console, but it’s disheartening all the same. Still, there’s a bight side – a WiiWare focused Nintendo means more great Nintendo exclusive downloadable content – let’s just hope the retro dry spell doesen’t last long.

Wii MotionPlus exclusive Red Steel 2 has been pushed back to March 2010 for unspecificied reasons, Ubisoft confirmed today.
The delay announcement arrives just as Ubisoft was pointing fingers and assigning blame for a substantial drop in sales in the U.S. and the U.K. Key amongst the excuses were “the economy” and “piracy.” Not present in his repertoire was “the fact that we make a lot of shovelware finally caught up to us.”
Nevertheless, Ubi’s fall lineup remains strong, even without the highly anticipated Red Steel 2 cutting things up with MotionPlus during the holiday season. Rabbids Go Home, Shaun White Snowboarding World Stage, Academy of Champions and TMNT Smash-Up are all still scheduled for a fall release, Joystiq reports.

La-Mulana is a side scrolling platformer that was released back in 2005 for the PC. The game features a mixture of ‘bit’ graphics and an interface that is inspired by MSX games. La-Mulana is one of those traditional action-adventure games that will punish the player if they make a wrong move and is very reminiscent of the Castlevania and Metroid games.

It’s official .. with both Wii Sports Resort and the WiiWare release of Monkey Island, this is the best release week of the last three months! (I’m still a little concerned about two weeks in a row of no Virtual Console titles…)

“Launch of the Screaming Narwhal”, the first chapter of Tales of Monkey Island, now has a WiiWare release date. The game will make its console debut in North America this coming Monday, the 27th of July.
It’s going to be 1000 Wii Points and if it’s anything like the PC version I played, it’s totally worth it!
