Math problem: True or false?

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009 at 11:39pm by Jack

math_imageNumber of playable Wii/DS games at E3 right now > Their competitors’ games that are playable by the public right now, combined.

Yeah, I’m genuinely curious. Vaporware tech demos need not apply.

    That’s the best part! Not only quantity, but quality too!

    By the way I seriously don’t get how some people are blown by the 8 given by nintendo power to the conduit.

    If it was a 7 or 7.5, then I would understand, but an eight is a pretty solid score worthy of a buy if you enjoy FPSs. I’ll be buying it even though I’m stuck with halo 3 and COD over on the 360.

    I played the conduit today at e3. it was really good. I liked it enough to buy it. I would have preferred if they had it so you could play sitting down, I find aiming with the wiimote alot easier sitting down, but yeah, it worked really well. The main weapon the aliens carry is identical to the plasma pistol in Halo, which must be why so many people compare the two. The gameplay is not as similar though. Also played the new silent hill game. that was good. Dead Space Extraction played great as well. Nintendo even had Cursed Mountain playable in their booth. They had MANY core games on display. I was impressed.

    @ cisco
    cool dude I hear those are some games to keep a close eye on
    would you agree?

    That seems like the biggest difference between Nintendo and the other companies at this E3. All of Nintendo’s games are coming out this year, with the exception of Mario Galaxy 2 possibly. I can’t really say that with Microsoft and Sony.

    @droop,

    Absolutely. I was pleasantly surprised by each of them. My only issues were:

    1. Silent Hill. I couldn’t figure out how to kill the thing that was following me. It kept jumping on me and I could only throw it off and run. All I had to use was a flashlight and the “iphone”. It kept following me, even through doors, so it would have been nice to kill it, but I couldn’t figure out how.

    2. The controls for Cursed Mountain seemed a bit wonky, but the game looked great. This huge winged enemy was really cool looking (you have a wand-like weapon that you use to “shoot” it) and the atmosphere was really impressive so if they can sort the controls, I think it has real potential.

    @Cisco:

    By design, you can’t really fight in this version of Silent Hill. The focus is on eluding and tricking the monsters, with the idea that this would create more tension. It’s the reason I’ve got Shattered Memories high on my buy list.

    @gutter,

    That sounds reasonable. It also sounds like they need more informative assistants at the demo stations. :)

    Honestly though, I tried to evade the damn thing but he just kept coming. I ran through 4 doors and he still found me. BTW the running through doors is pretty cool. :)
