Sega is BFF with Wii. At least that’s what one managing director for the company says, after releasing three core titles on Wii (Overkill, MadWorld, and Conduit).

“House of the Dead: Overkill was a profitable title for us,” revealed Gary Dunn, MD of European development for Sega, speaking exclusively to GamesIndustry.biz. “Whilst MadWorld commercially didn’t sell what we were expecting, I wouldn’t say it’s game over for mature Wii titles from Sega… We’ve got money to invest in development, we’re just considering where to invest it next.”

Sega does what Nintendon’t.

According to Gamer Segmentation 2009, the most recent report from leading market research company, The NPD Group, the number of female gamers are is on the rise in 2009 compared to 2008, significantly among Console Gamers.  There was a four percentage point rise in females among both Heavy Portable and Extreme Gamers.

Karnov! Fun little game.

In case you missed it: The internet’s retro gaming assassin compiled a full retrospective of the beloved Game Boy, which turned 20 in April.

With so much culture revolving around a two decades-old piece of hardware, it’s clear that the Game Boy is more than just a gaming system. It’s a common link; A symbolic piece of shared history amongst both gamers and non-gamers.

A good read.

This week there’s not one but TWO movie tie-in games with Harry Potter and Ice Age getting new Wii and DS titles. Roogoo hits both systems as well. On the downloadable side, WiiWare gets a new FPS from Hudson, but using water guns and some Sudoku action for your DSi.  There’s a pretty decent selection of Rock Band 2 DLC songs, too!  Click on in for the full details.
