Pretty sweet. Check out how Nick created them right here! Now I have to wonder if anyone will make Apollo Justice themed panties.

Very early this morning I was awakened from my morning haze by the sight of a delightful Super Mario cake that popped up on one of the image-feed websites I subscribe to. Inspired, I thought it merited a post, but upon further investigation into where exactly the cake had come from, I found more… and more and more.
There are so many Nintendo and Nintendo-character themed cakes, sweets and snacks out there, that just one post was not going to do them all justice. Hence, the “Weekly Sweet Power-Up.” Every week we’ll showcase a Nintendo-themed cake, candy, or other sweet ranging from home-made baked goods to Pokémon snacks at the Japanese grocery store. Got a sweet you’d like to share? Send it to us!
This week’s Power-Up comes from M.A.L’s Flickr page, a towering wedding cake with the Mario Kart gang against a Mario Galaxy inspired backdrop. The cake was made by master decorator Beth at Let Them Eat Cake in Costa Mesa, California.
Nintendo’s first attempt at ushering in a new world of motion-controlled gaming was spearheaded by a sports title, Wii Sports, so I suppose it’s only fitting that round two, MotionPlus, will receive similar treatment. Funny thing is, it’s not going to be Nintendo that’s pushing the new peripheral into people’s homes. At least, not at first.
Instead, the mantle has fallen on EA, as we’ve detailed already with Tiger Woods 10. More recently, as in today, EA was again spreading the word about MotionPlus, this time in regard to Grand Slam Tennis.
“Wii MotionPlus is something that will appeal to the masses because it is innovative technology that takes the Wii experience to new heights. People don’t need to know how to play video games,” said Grand Slam producer Thomas Singleton. “They just need to know how to perform real-life sports motions to enjoy the Grand Slam Tennis experience.”
Let’s be cautious though, as EA (and Nintendo) have a lot invested in this little piece of white plastic. They want (Nintendo) and need (EA) for this tech to succeed. The previews look sharp, however, and we’ll know for sure this June. And with Wii Sports Resort set to drop in July, this could very well be Nintendo (and EA’s) summer to lose.
Yesterday Nintendo opened up a new page for it’s forthcoming Wii Video Service Channel “Wii no Ma.” The channel, which will be released in Japan on May 1st, allows you to populate a room with up to eight Mii’s to live in a real time virtual life while you watch and rate original videos that are delivered through the Wii’s internet connection.
But the “Wii no Ma” room isn’t just a stylish Japanese table and a slick flat-panel TV for your Miis to enjoy. You can also use the in room calendar to get information and trivia about different dates and holidays, and travel to different partner businesses (say a fast-food chain) to download coupons to your DS and use at an actual store, or even sign up for free samples to be delivered right to your door! (more…)

…Fragile, it’s a title that’s been requested many times before so we’re looking into it…

After 20 years, the Game Boy really hasn’t changed that much, as this nifty timeline shows. Head on over to Gizmodo for a full resolution image.
I had to check the dateline on this New York Times Wii article a few times to make sure my sister hadn’t accidentally emailed me an older article from days long gone, but no, this is from yesterday. And it describes a firsthand account of Wii elbow, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes.
Basically, Wii Sports is alive and well. That’s great news, and completely unsurprising. It’s also bittersweet. Nintendo created a gem for the ages, and yet no third party developer, to date, has been able or willing to create something that captures the magic of this truly original title. Even solid “blockbuster” titles like GTAIV (with DLC support!) have largely faded away, lacking whatever mystical Nintendo touch has allowed Wii Sports, cheesy Mii bobbleheads and all, to remain relevant three years after its release. Kind of reminds me of Mario, in a way. A minor shame, really.
I think Tiger Woods 10 has a decent shot at lightning in a bottle, but that’s just me. Regardless, I’ve got the Wii Sports itch. Again. And I must bowl.

With my mitts already on Excite Bots (good time btw, online betting is awesome, but I sorta miss the trucks), I wonder what’s on everyone else’s radar? Punch-Out? Motion Plus sports (Tiger Woods, Virtua Tennis etc)? The Conduit? Let’s hear it!
This Rock Band/Guitar Hero pissing match over who can line the pockets of as many artists as possible with dedicated stand-alone musical act titles is, admittedly, growing a little thin.
I say this even as sales of World Tour for the Wii tops all other versions because, frankly, I believe the genre to be tapped, having plateaued in 2008.
Regardless, Penny Arcade takes it to an entirely different level.

So I received a tweet from Amazon Games today saying that World Of Goo for Wii was available for sale. You apparently pay Amazon and they give you a download code to use on your Wii. The price ($14.99) was close to the 1500 points it costs on the Wii Shop Channel, so I was left wondering .. What is the benefit of buying a WiiWare game through Amazon?
