Grand Slam Tennis walkthrough leaves me pining for high fives

I’m sorry, this just looks awesome. That said, I wonder how running is implemented, as positioning can make or break a tennis shot (and consequently, a tennis video game). Still, I’m very excited for this. Like Wii Sports all over.

Looks very impressive, and I really want to give it a try (and hopefully will want to buy it). But there is one thing I’m wondering. Will this be too complicated for Grandma and little Susy?
One of the strong points of Wii sports is that it was easily playable by everyone. Grandma could actually beat her share of opponents.
After watching that demo, this looks much more like a hardcore kind of game. A game where the little things that you didn’t have to worry about in Wii sports can make a huge difference.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining. I would love to see a game like this take off, and appeal to the more serious gamers, but I do think they should let people know that this is not the same kind of casual game that many people have come to expect for the Wii.

I think the game will allow you to play without the motion plus. That would turn it into Wii Sports Tennis.

@King
That would be very smart of them, if they do indeed offer that option.
My daughter loves Wii Sports tennis, but I know that most of what I saw in that video is beyond her. If we could turn those features off so she could play it, then turn them back on so my son and I could take advantage of the new features, that would make it an easier sell for us.

Is pinning anything like pining?

Totally agree with you Joshdad. That would be a smart move on their part.

@King, Joshdad:
That was already confirmed in past previews.

Glad to hear it. I’ll still need to try it out first, but that feature will make it much more buyable. (is that actually a word?)

i’d like to hear from someone who has played this game and virtua tennis for wii, with wii motion + on both. and give a comparison. at the moment i’m leaning more towards grand slam tennis, but i’m still waiting for the comparison.
