Gerudo Valley on Ocarina and Acoustic Guitars

Thursday, July 10th, 2008 at 3:23pm by Will

Gerudo Valley was always one of the most soothing tunes to listen to from Ocarina of Time. Many people have tried to cover it but these musicians (David on Ocarina and “Jorel” on Guitars) totally made the song their own with their own interpretation on the song. On a side note, which Zelda title do you believe had the best soundtrack? For me it would be a toss up between A Link to the Past or Ocarina of Time, although, Twilight Princess did have its moments.

[Special Thanks to Nate for finding this!]

Seriously? You have to think about the best Zelda soundtrack?

For me, it’s clearly Ocarina of Time. I mean, that was the first game that made me think that music in games was important. The music MADE that game and without the music…well, it wouldn’t be as great as it is.

Don’t get me wrong; LttP has a great soundtrack, but it’s just background noise. OoT made you interact with it.

TP, IMO, was pretty much just a ‘let’s try to redo OoT with an extra song or two, maybe a few remixes.’ It was good (I have the soundtrack) but nowhere near the other two.

I do. Link to the past, Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, Wind Waker, Original LOZ, Twilight Princess — The Zelda series has the best game music imo, and it’s very hard to choose which one is the best. I do agree though, Ocarina of Times music was very interactive. But the same can be said for Wind Waker, Majora’s Mask (which was more interactive than OoT imo), and Twilight Princess.

For me it’s a tough decision. I think it’s a tie between Majora’s Mask and Wind Waker. You just can’t beat the credit themes / opening theme in Majora’s Mask. So beautiful… And let’s not forget the Ocean and Dragon Roost Island themes from Wind Waker as well.

Of course, that music is only the tip of the iceberg for Zelda Sound Tracks.

OoT has easily the best Zelda soundtrack.

TP was a fabulous game…I still maintain it was a better game than OoT, but not a “greater” one, if you know what I mean. But the soundtrack cannot compete with OoT.

I’d say Wind Waker has a pretty fantastic soundtrack, that or Majora’s Mask is my favorite. Mainly cause Majora’s Mask incorporates a couple tunes from OoT so it’s the best of both worlds. And then in Majora’s Mask there are the songs for the old hags, the creepy mask man, they’re all really great though.

The only problem I have with this song is that those guitars are out of tune, the recording didn’t help either.

Rauru is truly a man after my own heart. I think Wind Waker is the best Zelda and has the best soundtrack to back it up. Then followed by Majora. I’m in that minority that thinks Ocarina is not only not the best game EVER, but not the best Zelda. (as opposed to the “majora-ty” that says it is. omglulz. i m teh phunny) Those dulcet Celtic tunes just seem to pack so much feeling in them to me. I especially like the main title theme. I could listen to that all day. As for Majora, the music, like the game is alot darker and sadder than the more standard fare of Ocarina. I love Majora’s more character-driven Groundhogs Day story. There’s something profoundly sad about it that way. You can put forth all that effort to save Keifi and help get him and Anju back together. The moon is coming down and the world is falling apart around them, they reunite, and that’s all they care about, hoping they’ll have their happy ending. But then you play the Song of Time and it’s all erased. They’re right back in the start of their hopeless mess, they don’t remember any of it, and they wouldn’t know you from Adam. And it’s like it never happened. That invokes alot of emotion from me, which is, for me, the mark of a great game.

Well said Drahken ;) . Majora is such an unique game. I always loved Majora’s opening theme, and also the Stone Tower Temple and Deku Palace tunes.

I’ve only played the Gamecube remake of OoT and TP for Wii.
It’s kind of strange that I can’t get past the big tree in OoT and yet I can beat TP!Anyway, the TP soundtrack is cool.

I forgot Wind Waker!I only got to the woods at the end of the bridge-Hey ,wait a minute, that’s in TP too-but by then my haircut was over(Cool Cuts).Good game.
